After reading some articles on studies done by Banner Health in Arizona, I decided to purchase a peanut ball for use with my clients desiring or requiring epidurals. The more you can move a mama around in labor with an epidural, the better, so I think this will be a great help to my clients! I’ll post a photo soon of my peanut ball and its new carrying cover I’m making!
Peanut balls are peanut-shaped vinyl exercise balls that help relax and open the pelvis of maternity patients who have received epidural anesthesia.
By using peanut balls, a mother-to-be may have a shorter first and second stage labor and a lower chance of getting a C-section, according to research conducted at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.
