Placenta Services and Rates

I have trained and studied placenta encapsulation, to include tinctures and salves. I have obtained and maintain both my Bloodborne Pathogen and Food Handlers certificates, and I am pleased to offer a variety of placenta services!

What is Placentophagy? Placentophagy is the practice of ingesting the placenta after childbirth. It has been practiced for centuries throughout the world, especially in China and the Far East.

What are the benefits of Placentophagy? Benefits include:

  • Increased breastmilk production
  • Reduced postpartum pain and inflammation
  • Reduced postpartum bleeding
  • Stabilized hormones and mood
  • Reduced risk of “baby blues” and postpartum depression
  • Decreased stress
  • Increased Iron, Vitamin B, and energy levels (decreased fatigue)
Placenta Encapsulation (TCM Method) $250
The Traditional Chinese Method (TCM) of preparation involves gently steaming the placenta. TCM is believed to have healing and warming properties. TCM also converts some nutrients to be absorbed, which would normally be discarded. The TCM method is tonifying for your uterus. After steaming, the placenta is dehydrated, ground, and encapsulated. If your placenta has been frozen, this is the method of choice.
Placenta Encapsulation (Raw Method) $250
This process skips the steaming process and is dehydrated while still raw. This process may only be used within the first 48 hours after birth to ensure quality of freshness. Using the Raw Method provides a burst of energy in the immediate postpartum period, but does not provide the longer term benefits provided by TCM. Reasons to choose Raw Method include: long labor, postpartum hemorrhage, and desire to increase breastmilk and energy immediately after birth.
** For an additional $20, I will encapsulate your placenta using both methods, dividing half your placenta for each method.
Placenta Tincture | 4oz bottle $25
Tinctures are helpful for returning menstrual cycles, menopause, and even puberty! The biological mother and daughter of the birthing mom can also benefit from the tincture. Tinctures have an indefinite shelf life! They can be used for teething babies to ease discomfort and transitions. They are made with 100 proof alcohol, and are similar to Back Flower Essences.
Placenta Salve | 4oz jar $35
Salves are used to heal Cesarean incisions, including lessening scarring, itching, and discomfort. Salves may also be used for hemorrhoids, perineal tearing, burns, diaper rash, eczema, sun burns, and skin irritations. I use organic beeswax, which lasts longer, but salves can also be made vegan, with Candelilla wax instead of beeswax. Their shelf life is a bit shorter.
Placenta Print and Cord Keepsake Free!
Included with all encapsulation services are a complimentary print of your baby’s side of the placenta, known as the Tree of Life, and a keepsake made from the umbilical cord. These honor the special role your placenta played in your baby’s growth.
